Asher’s story
We soon realized why they were being sent to slaughter. They were riddled with parasites and had a resistance to dewormers. They were sick and malnourished, and the farm decided to cull them instead of cure them.
Our own veterinarian suggested that we do the same, but at The Gentle Barn, we never give up until our animals are thriving. We used Western veterinary care and medication, and also several natural dewormers that we ordered from around the world, along with Sun Chlorella to boost their immune systems. Some were oral, others were topical, and others we applied straight on the ground. We worked hard, and it took us about a year, but we were successful. Asher and the other boys are now fully grown, healthy, happy, and thriving.
Asher and the other nine sheep are together known as Kody's Flock, after a generous donor. Individually, their names are Alexander, Asher, Casper, David, JJ, Leo, Mac, Manny, Richard, and Sam.
