Wildfire Support

Cow Hug Therapy (Wildfire Support)

Cow Hug Therapy offers a chance to heal and find hope in the embrace of one of our gentle giants.

At this time we are offering Cow Hug Therapy to anyone who has become displaced due to the wildfire. If you or someone you know has not been displaced but feels they would benefit from Cow Hug Therapy, please use the standard booking or email development@gentlebarn.org and let us know how we can help.

If you have been affected by the fires and have any questions about booking or availability please contact us.

The Gentle Barn's staff or volunteers are there to facilitate the connection and provide safety between you and the animals but they are NOT therapists, and in no way offer medical or mental health advice themselves. In the event that additional mental health support is needed, The Gentle Barn recommends reaching out to a licensed mental health clinician.

  • 1hr session held on Monday
  • Time slots: 11a-12p, 12p-1p or 1p-2p

What is Cow Hug Therapy?

While resting your face against the cow’s warm frame, your mind is cleared of worry, you are centered and grounded in the present time, your heart slows down to the beat of the cow’s heart, and your body gently rises and falls with their breathing, and you feel vulnerable, humble, open, and full of infinite possibilities.

Public Sunday (Wildfire Support)

The Gentle Barn understands the profound impact of wildfires and the devastation they cause to communities, families, first responders, and individuals. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the recent wildfires in California. If you have been impacted by these fires, we warmly invite you to join us at our open Sundays as our guest to find healing among the animals. The therapeutic qualities of our animals are truly remarkable. Come and hug a cow, cuddle turkeys, give pigs tummy rubs, hold a chicken, and so much more.

If you have been affected by the fires and have any questions about booking or availability please contact us.

What is Public Sunday?

The Gentle Barn is open to the public once a week on Sunday for guests to hug the cows, give the pigs tummy rubs, cuddle the turkeys, feed the horses, hold the chickens, and learn their stories of resilience.
