In 2015 we were contacted about a cow in Tennessee who had a missing foot, and was living in pain. With the help of bovine surgeon Dr Anderson at UT Knoxville, prosthetist Ronnie Graves, and the generosity of our supporters, we were able to save Dudley, help him recover, acclimate him to a prosthetic foot, and create a Gentle Barn for him and many other animals. During the course of his lifetime, Dudley hosted children in foster care, kids with special needs, war veterans, and human amputees. He gave out thousands of hugs and inspired people around the world to recover from their own stories and open their hearts to the intelligence, affection, and magic of animals.
In 2017 Dudley tragically passed away during a routine skin graft. In Dudley's memory, we moved The Gentle Barn to Nashville to be able to save more animals, heal more people, and open more hearts. There is a life size mural on the side of our cow barn with Dudley's image on it, so everyone who visits can remember him. We now have so many animals who live their happily ever after in our pastures and we hope you come visit us soon. Thank you for helping us make The Gentle Barn Nashville Dudley's perfect legacy!
