Because the Gentle Barn has been around for twenty years and we take in animals who have nowhere else to go, we have ended up with many senior animals. Our job is to get them back to health and maintain their mobility, comfort, and quality of life for as long as we can. To do this we use Sun Chlorella Algae Super Food , acupuncture, massage therapy, CBD pellets, holding therapy, energetic healing, and good food. Many older animals have chronic weight loss and we have to work hard to keep weight on them. Hay plays a big part in their sustenance.
Lucy is an older cow who adopted Ferdinand and produced milk for him. Because she is nursing him three times a day, and her body is exerting energy producing food for Ferdinand, she was losing weight. We immediately started adding Alfalfa hay to her grass hay, and senior grain each morning and night. After a few weeks she started gaining weight, her coat started shining, and she had much more energy. Now she has enough nutrients for herself and her adopted boy.
Most moms have babies when they are still young and have enough vitality for themselves and their growing families. At her age, Lucy should never have had a baby. But she fell in love with him and her body adopted him anyway. So, it is now our job to make sure she is strong, has enough nutrients, and feels her best. Ferdinand now depends on her for his every need. And he’ll need her for many more years. It is so important that we keep her strong and healthy so Ferdinand is happy and loved. The best way we can do this is with rich, nutrient, delicious hay to fill her belly and keep her strong for her baby. By feeding one, we’re feeding them both.
We have come to the final stretch of our hay campaign and on behalf of Lucy, Ferdinand, and all the animals at The Gentle Barn, I want to thank you from the very bottom of my heart for your generosity, support, and loyalty! Thank you for donating for hay, loving animals with us, and helping us give them the very best life. We love you!
