By Ellie Laks, Founder of The Gentle Barn
Jay and I spent this week in St. Louis. I got to meet the cows who escaped from slaughter for the first time and I was blown away by their beauty, grace, strength, and courage. Chico is so clearly the leader and he is taking such great care of his now four brothers. I am so deeply in love with them and I am overwhelmed by a sense of responsibility for them. I want to help heal their hearts. I want to prove to them that humans can be kind. I want to help them let go of their pasts and trust humans. I want to work with them to open people's hearts, help animals live a better life, and give hope and inspiration to the children in St. Louis.
We found a property that would be perfect, but we need to raise the funds. Please help us! Please donate, even if it's just a little, and share with your friends on social media. We cannot do this without you!
Spirit, one of the cows who escaped from the slaughter house was so injured from the authorities round up that he had to be helped out of his body. Spirit will always be remembered and The Gentle Barn St. Louis will stand in his memory always! We cannot wait to open our doors, bring the #StLouisSix home forever, and serve the Gateway to the West with our programs.
