Jay and I are in Tennessee this week to host groups of foster children for the second month and we have been teaching the kids about turkeys and how to be gentle with them. They learned how to feed turkeys and what they like to eat. They practiced holding still and quiet to show the turkeys that they are safe. The older groups even painted stars and flowers on the turkey’s house to do something nice for them. The kids and the turkeys have a lot in common: they were all taken away from their moms at birth, they all had to grow up too fast, they all had been victims of neglect and abuse, and they are all getting a second chance to find peace, safety and love at The Gentle Barn.
