Our new turkeys that we rescued from Thanksgiving are doing so well! Nalla and McKenna Rocket are still in quarantine, but this week is their last and they will soon be coming to our main location to cuddle with all of us. Paloma and Scarlett, however, have already been let out of quarantine and they are having a blast! They were in a cage before we saved them so this is their first time feeling the earth beneath their feet, the sun on their faces, and the breeze in their feathers. They love the view from the roof of the barn, climbing to the top of the trees, sleeping in the barn with all the chickens, and making friends with all the other animals.
This last Sunday was their very first day open to the public. We had hundreds of guests meeting Paloma and Scarlett for the first time and they did great! I was a bit worried that the new turkeys would be scared, but they walked around and chirped the whole day and enjoyed themselves. They didn’t seem scared or worried at all.
These turkeys are very special, they seem as if they have been here their whole lives. They are so friendly and seem to know exactly what their job is. They are excellent ambassadors and we are so very lucky to have them! Come meet them and help us give them a warm welcome on any Sunday from 10-2. See you soon!
