Another year of healing children and animals is underway at The Gentle Barn. As you know, The Gentle Barn saves animals no one else wants. Then, we bring the animals home to heal and be rehabilitated with acupuncture, acupressure, massage therapy, ultrasound, chiropractic, ice therapy, water therapy, energetic healing, nutritional supplements, and lots of love. We are currently home to 170 animals, including horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, llamas, dogs, cats, donkeys, and a parrot.
Once the animals are healthy and happy, they typically get to live out the rest of their lives with us and help heal people who have the same stories of abuse and neglect through our 10-month Peace Enhancement Program. The program runs from September though June, and hosts schools for at-risk, inner-city, and special needs children, as well as burn centers, senior centers, domestic violence shelters, drug and alcohol rehab centers, probation camps for teens, and war veteran hospitals.
Through an animal’s story and through the interaction with the animals, The Gentle Barn helps people who are shut down, angry and unable to communicate in normal therapeutic settings, become vulnerable and open. The transformations that happen at The Gentle Barn on a daily basis are nothing short of miraculous.
We have many groups on our waiting list who would like to enroll in our program. To donate to The Gentle Barn and enable more children to get unconditional love and life changing healing from the animals at The Gentle Barn, go to www.gentlebarn.org
