New Babies at The Gentle Barn

This month we got a desperate call from a lovely woman who has been rescuing donkeys from abuse for many decades. Sadly, she recently got ill and needed several surgeries. Because of her poor health and the operations, she could not walk, could not work, and was not bringing in any funds to care for her animals. The rescuer needed rescuing! After months of asking the community to help, she was able to place all her animals except the last three donkeys. They were mom and two daughters who needs to stay together and the mom was afraid of people. No one wanted to adopt three donkeys at the same time, especially when the mom was skittish and needed more healing.

So we hitched up our horse trailer and went to get the last three donkeys so the woman could focus on getting back on her feet again. We brought them home to The Gentle Barn promising the woman that they would be loved and well cared for and would always be kept together. We also gave a donation to the woman to help her get back on her feet and Sun Chlorella Algae Super Food to boost her immune system and help her heal. We will carry this animal hero in our hearts for all times, and each day when we are loving her donkeys, we will be loving her at the same time.

The three burros are settling in very nicely. They were nervous at first, but soon realized that everyone who passes by them has love, attention, praise, and carrots for them. They spend their days playing with each other and letting us deeper and deeper into their hearts. The mom is very shy but with time and patience her heart will soon be open and we will soon be able to pet, hug, and brush her. Please come by to see them, you are sure to fall in love!
