Dolly was raised without animal companions and because her caregiver was struggling with her health, she didn’t have much human interaction over the last several years before we brought her home to The Gentle Barn. When she first arrived, Dolly would eat and stay by herself, away from the other animals and would walk away from us when we tried to brush or pet her. Over the last few months we have been showing her that she is loveable and that we all want to be her friend. She has finally gotten used to attention and will let us scratch her back and she now eats and hangs out with the other cows. Last week Dolly hosted her first school group and allowed all the children to pet, hug and brush her. We are so proud of her and promised her that this is just the beginning of a lifetime of company, love and hugs galore!
