Read Zena's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

Zena was rescued from an abusive petting zoo where she had been forced to get pregnant every six months for 7 years. While she was nursing one baby, she was birthing another. Zena's toenails were never trimmed, it was difficult for her to walk, and she was malnourished from a poor diet. Because her stomach muscles were weakened from so many pregnancies, her stomach was distended and her udders were stretched and sagging.

Once we rescued her, trimmed her toenails, and got her on a healthy diet, we kept her here with us, her two daughters and a granddaughter who were living the same abuse at the same petting zoo.

Zena lived a good life here with us and she was kind and gentle to thousands of children. At the ripe old age of 14 Zena, surrounded by her family and friends left quietly and peacefully. She was a great mother, a kind heart and her herd and her humans will miss her very much.
