Read Sun Dance's Story (In Memoriam)
Sun Dance came to us at a day old and grew up right in our barnyard. We don't know why he was brought to the animal shelter right after being born, but we were grateful to be at the shelter rescuing a dog when he was brought in and came home with Sun Dance too. He was sick and spent the first thirty days with volunteers who slept with him, played with him and held him in their arms. Once quarantine was done and he was healthy, we introduced Sundance to one of our motherly goats, Ginger who adopted him, bonded with him, and brought him out to our main barnyard, and made sure everyone was gentle with him. Sundance loved to play king of the mountain, gallop all over the barnyard playing chase, and when he was full-grown, loved to rest in the sun with his eyes closed in bliss. He was well-liked by all the other animals, and loved by all our staff, volunteers, and guests who fell in love with his toothy grin, his elf ears, and the golden sparkle in his eyes.
