Read Sorina's Story (In Memoriam)
Sorina was rescued from Thanksgiving. Because turkeys are genetically engineered to grow very big, very fast so they can be slaughtered at only 12 weeks old, she was already huge when we rescued her, and we knew we would have a short time with her.
Even with her cruel start in life, Sorina was friendly, affectionate, and curious right from the start. She would fall asleep in our laps, fill the Barnyard with her beautiful chirping songs, and was beloved by us all.
Before she was even three years old, her body had become so large that internal fat was pressing on her lungs, making it difficult for her to breathe.
She had a short time with us, but made a huge impact, showing thousands of guests the affection, intelligence, and magic of turkeys. She will remain in our hearts forever.
