We took Ruby and her partner, Monty into The Gentle Barn when their person died of cancer, and willed them to us. Their person loved them so much, and wanted to make sure that they were cared for for the rest of their lives.Ruby had a full cutting career before she came to The Gentle Barn. She lived with her husband, Monty, and her person who loved her very much, and went trail riding and traveled around the country winning blue ribbons as an athlete.When her partner Monty passed away, she later fell in love with Lance who was younger than Ruby, very handsome, and exciting. Lance was kind to Ruby, but she loved the very exciting attention and flirtation that he gave her.When Lance passed away, once Ruby had grieved for a while, she fell in love with our new horse, Thor. Thor came into The Gentle Barn, very broken and needed a friend. Ruby took him under her wing, was filled with renewed purpose, and Thor was a gentleman who adored her and took very good care of her.Once Thor passed away, Ruby adopted all of our donkeys and watched over them, momied them, and nurtured them. They loved her very much. She even had to be in the same bedroom as the Donkeys when we were open to the public on Sundays, so she was never far away from her beloved donkey children.Ruby lived a very long, full, rich, exciting, loved life. She felt full, complete, and at peace. At the age of 37, Ruby passed away very quickly, peacefully, and easily.
