Read Rosita's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

After having her babies taken from her year after year in the dairy industry, Rosita was ultimately sent to slaughter pregnant. Thankfully she gave birth while awaiting slaughter and we were able to save her and her newborn son, Eugene, and bring them to the safety of The Gentle Barn California location. Rosita spent every day fearing that we would take her son away, but she got to keep her son for the rest of her life. She nursed him for five years, until he was taller than her, and spent every day grooming him with her tongue, eating by his side, and sleeping right next to him. Rosita was finally able to be a full-time mom and raise, nurture, protect, play with, and adore her son. Rosita passed away on her own terms with her family surrounding her, and as she transitioned we promised her that we would always and forever take care of and protect her son for the rest of his life. Rosita is an important reminder to all of us that animals want to love their children just like we do, and the most effective thing we can do to keep their families intact is to go vegan.
