Read Rosie's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

When Rosie was born, her farm flooded, and she and the other piglets were swept away in a river. Rosie pulled herself out of that river, found a horse farm to raise her, and eventually made her way to The Gentle Barn, where she grew to become our matriarch, raising, caring for, protecting, and nurturing our other pigs. She rolled over her belly rubs, gazed deeply into people’s eyes, and opened hearts around the world to the magic of pigs. She did incredible and remarkable work here at The Gentle Barn.Rosie passed away a 10 years old when she could no longer walk. Pigs are genetically engineered to get very big very fast so they can go to slaughter when they are babies. When we rescue them and they continue to grow like they are supposed to, they become abnormally large and it creates mobility issues later in life.We gave Rosie Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, anti-inflammatory medication, great veterinary care, energy, Healing, and spoke to her with Animal Communication so we knew her every wish and desire. We were able to keep her mobile and comfortable for over a year and a half until finally no matter what we did, she could not stand. We walked her home, set her free, and helped her out of her body, we are grateful to have known her!!
