Mojito the dog, living in sanctuary at The Gentle Barn California
Mojito, aka Mojo, grew up in the streets of Memphis, spent many months at an animal shelter, had several homes and many losses, and was finally scheduled to be euthanized. We stepped in to bring him home forever to The Gentle Barn. He was underweight, congested, and scared. We took him right away to our wonderful veterinarian who pulled blood to test for environmental allergens, saliva for food allergies, and a nasal swab to understand the congestion. The tests revealed twenty-four different environmental allergies, three food allergies, and an infection needing strong antibiotics for six weeks. Now that he is on the right food, in the right environment, and the medication is giving him some relief, Mojo is finally playing with toys and our other dogs and jumping up on the couch and the bed for affection. Mojo is still not eating as much as he should and still acclimating, but in the next several months we are certain that he will be plump, shiny, happy, and healthy. When he is fully recovered, I cannot wait to bring him to the beach, on hikes, to the park, and show him how wonderful life can be!
