Read Marilyn Monroe's Story (In Memoriam)
Marilyn Monroe was kept as a trophy pet for a wealthy man. When the stock market crashed he lost his farm and with it, all his animals. The other animals went to other homes but the cows were going to be sent to slaughter. We found out and brought them to The Gentle Barn instead.
When we saved her she was not used to much attention and by the time she passed away she was used to daily massages, back scratches and adoration. Marilyn died suddenly. We don't know exactly how old she was when we saved her, but we know that she was at least 12, if not older. The good news is that she went quickly and did not suffer. She was with us and her best cow friend, Lucy when she left. Marilyn was never one to sit around and complain or indulge in drama, so she left in her style, quick and with few words. We will miss her so much but we feel grateful to have been graced by her in our barnyard! Marilyn was a tuff old lady who knew who she was, knew what she wanted and allowed us into her heart; what an honor!
