Read Lilly's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

Before she came to us, Lilly was kept as a breeding pig. She had her food thrown over the fence to her and her babies taken away. For 15 years she lived with heartache and loneliness. When she was too old to get pregnant, they sent Lilly to the pound to be euthanized, but we were able to save her and bring her to the Gentle Barn instead. Lilly was terrified of humans and it took us a year and a half to change her mind. finally giving her her very first tummy rub. Lilly loved it here and got daily treats and affection to make up for lost time. She even got to adopt two baby piglets that we rescued, and instead of adopting them out, we kept them for Lilly. The three of them slept in a big black and white pile each and every night and were inseparable. Most pot bellied pigs live till about 15, but Lilly loved her new life so much that she lived till 26! Finally her body could not continue and she passed away peacefully, with a smile on her face, knowing that she was deeply loved here with us!
