Read King David's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

During the first six months of the pandemic, slaughterhouses were shutting down, ranchers were panicking, and animals were being sent to slaughter pregnant by the thousands. When they gave birth before being killed, the owner of a Los Angeles slaughterhouse would allow us to have the moms and the babies. We brought home several during the pandemic and David was one of the babies spared with his mom. Due to the stress, and spreading disease among so many cows, David got severe pneumonia and tragically did not survive. But because of David, his mom, Light is with us at The Gentle Barn and will be for the rest of her life. Light now has the life all animals deserve and every delicious mouth full of food, sip of clean water, and stroke of our gentle hands will be in honor and memory of her son, King David who saved her life.
