Joyful Heart was born inside a slaughterhouse and she saved her mother's life. In a rare act of compassion the slaughterhouse owner allowed us to save Joy and her mom to live at The Gentle Barn. Because Betty was a seasoned and excellent mother, she was able to focus on the wellbeing of her daughter, even in the darkness, chaos, and trauma of the slaughterhouse. Because of her mom's dedication, Joyful Heart arrived at The Gentle Barn strong, healthy, and happy. Unlike most animals, Joy will only know gentle hands, respect, and the love of family and friends. She will live each wonderful day on behalf of the millions each year who aren't so lucky, and she will open people's hearts to the affection, intelligence, and magic of cows so maybe we can have a gentle world for all animals soon.
