Johnny Cash escaped from a slaughterhouse with five other cows and ran for his life through the streets of St Louis seeking refuge. Hours later they were rounded up and returned to the slaughterhouse. Because of the community's outcry and generosity, the cows' freedom was purchased and we were able to bring them to the safety of The Gentle Barn. Johnny Cash will spend the rest of his life at The Gentle Barn showing people how sweet, affectionate, and intelligent cows are, who when given a chance would heal people with their hugs.
