Read Jewel's Story (In Memoriam)
Jewel was a wild peacock wondering the neighborhood. He slept in our neighbors trees at night and soon started showing up at our place for meals. After a few weeks I opened our barnyard gate and invited him to stay. He set our barnyard ablaze with color for almost ten years. Jewel strolled down to the horses each evening before bed, but never left the property. He ran to us for Sun Chlorella Rejuv A Wafer treats every day as soon as he saw us coming. He displayed for all our animals, including sleeping pigs or busy chickens. He chased our male staff, he woke us up in the middle of the night with his loud cries, he chased our emu relentlessly, and he kicked us when the treats ran out; but we were madly in love with him and felt blessed that he chose to live with us!
But Jewel was wild, there was no way to contain him no matter how hard we tried, and he was never really ours, even though he graced us with his presence. Because he moved in as an adult, we never knew how old he was. But at the end of 2017, just as suddenly as he arrived, Jewel took his leave without a warning. It’s so hard to imagine our barnyard without him, but are so grateful that he chose us to care for him!!! We will forever remember his beauty!
