Read Jellie "The First"'s Story (In Memoriam)
Jellie was rescued with her twin sister, Jasmine from an abusive petting zoo at only four weeks old. Taken away from their moms way too young, we bottle fed them and slowly transitioned them to mashed fruits and veggies, and then to piggy food. They both had mange, sunburn, and a fear of humans and it took months for them to recover. But once they did, Jellie and her sister made friends with the other pigs and wagged their tails, rolled over for tummy rubs, explored, played, and thoroughly enjoyed their lives! Jellie got peanut butter sandwiches every night before bed, and always got tucked in with a blanket, lullaby, and kiss on the head. When we brought Jellie and Jasmine home, we had ten other pigs and they very quickly became family. Jellie was the very last one to pass, over the course of sixteen years. Tumors are very common in pot belly pigs. Jasmine passed from stomach cancer, and Jellie passed from cancer in her sinus cavity at the age of 16. Jellie loved to complain, was very vocal, always gentle, and our barnyard is not the same without her!
