Read Hope's Story (In Memoriam)
Hope was rescued from Thanksgiving in Tennessee. Afraid at first, she quickly warmed up to us, allowed us to cuddle and pet her, and became a very special docent at The Gentle Barn in Nashville. She allowed people to cuddle with her, pet her, kiss her fuzzy, pink head, and look into her beautiful, deep, dark eyes. Turkeys are genetically engineered to get very big very fast so they can go to slaughter at only 12 weeks old. When they grow to two like they are supposed to, they end up obese which creates mobility and respiratory issues. Hope barely made it to two years old and passed away from a heart attack suddenly and quickly. During her short time at The Gentle Barn, she opened hundreds of hearts and showed the world how beautiful, intelligent, and magical turkeys truly are. We are grateful to have known her and will remember her always!
