Read Bonnie's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

Bonnie was rescued from a family who could not afford to care for her during the pandemic. Bonnie was intuitive, empathic, and larger than life. Within five minutes of arriving at The Gentle Barn she took over the equine herd and became our matriarch, and no one dared contest her. She brought the family together, groom them, and cared for them, settled, disputes, and protected each member of the herd.
After a long professional career, Bonnie got to come to The Gentle Barn to retire. She wore a coat in the winter, a fly mask in the summer, got bedtime cookies every single night, got groomed in long, elaborate grooming sessions every morning, got to be the leader of our equine heard, and fell in love with our other horse, Marley. At the age of 22 Bonnie suffered a traumatic seizure, which ended her life. We were all tremendously lucky to have known and loved her. She will live in our hearts forever.
