Read Betsy's Story (In Memoriam)
Betsy was a happy backyard chicken, along with her sisters, when neighborhood dogs broke in to the yard and started killing off the birds. The family wanted to build fences and a house to protect them but were stopped by their HOA. Desperate to protect the hens that were left, they asked us to take them in. Betsy spent the last few years with us running free in our barnyard during the day in the sunshine, and safe and warm with her family at night in our barn. She loved to run and she was so fast when it came time for treats or a meal! Betsy was also very vocal and loved to tell us about her day. She got sick suddenly one day and our vet could not figure out why. While we were trying to get her appetite up again she decided it was time to go and left suddenly one night. We were so glad we were able to know and love her. She helped so many people learn how sweet and affectionate chickens could be!
