In California, it was blisteringly hot and the animals spent the week splashing in the pool, being hosed off, or putting their feet in water to cool off. There was a brush fire that did not affect us, but we deployed trucks and trailers to help evacuate other people’s animals. Thankfully, the wind changed, the fire turned away from the ranches, no one needed to be evacuated, and the fire was contained by the end of the day.
In Tennessee, Miles and the other animals comforted guests from around the world grieving over the loss of Dudley. Miles stepped up to be the main hugging saint and he allowed visitors to hug, pet, and kiss him. He made Dudley and the rest of us very proud!
In Missouri, we got a unanimous approval in one out of our three-part process for a conditional use permit. If all goes well, we will close escrow at the end of July, build fences in August, and be able to bring the St. Louis Six home and have our grand opening by the end of August or early September. We visited Chico and his brothers this week in their temporary foster home and they are doing very well. We are all anxious for them to come home, start their recovery process, and become ambassadors to change the world!
