Read Gus's Story ^{(In Memoriam)}

Gus came to us along with several other goats from a cruelty case. After suffering tremendous abuse and neglect, it took a while to rehabilitate him emotionally and physically. Thankfully Gus chose to live and filled all of our lives with joy. Gus loved our birds and had special relationships with them. He stood for hours with our turkey, Nala, with eyes closed as if speaking a silent intimate language. When Nala passed away, Gus struck up an equally deep relationship with our turkey, Sun, who cuddle for hours each day in the same way. When Sun was brought inside for better temperature control, Gus befriended our peacock, Tivoli, and actually groomed Tivoli's feathers with his mouth. We have never had another goat who loved our birds so much and was so kind. Gus was living proof that love is love no matter the form. Gus peacefully passed away in his sleep at the age of thirteen. We will miss him greatly!
